Bad father or stupid child?

First off, your dad loves you. Just maybe not as much as he loves himself. Second off, you are not a bad, spoiled for selfish kid. Sounds like you have went out of your way to get along. People are who they are. we can't change them. Perhaps someday, he will see the error of his ways, and if he is lucky, you will still be there for him. Honey, don't worry about it. Let it go, and enjoy your life. Your mother sounds great. She tried to hide his short comings from you. Try to be happy with one parent that is getting it right.
