Is anyone disgruntled with the us navy?

I was in the navy for 5.5 years. I didnt mind it at first, but after being on a ship for awhile, I absolutely despised it. I tried really hard to get through it and do good at my job, and never got in trouble, but the people and what we did just totally brought me down. To a certain point, I can see having ships out patrolling other countries is useful, but overall, most of it seemed like a waste of time. My job was especially useless. After that, it amazes me that anyone would stay in the navy. I must say that the navy sure wastes a lot of taxpayers dollars.
