Does a "second amp" contribute to voltage dropping?

My current set up is an Orion HCCA 12.2 powered by a RF T2000-1bd and a JL 300/4 for mids and highs. Current upgrades are: big 3, 1/0 wire all around, yellow top Optima battery, 165 amp H/O alt, and a 10 farad capacitor. Could it also be my car because I have quite a small car with a power hungry system (1996 Civic coupe. LOL). Not sure if I should get a alt with more amps because I have a friend who's really into cars and he said that "an alt that produces a lot of amps may also drain your battery". With that said should I get a bigger battery or a second battery? An answer would be greatly appreciated!!
