Is this a good begining to my book?
Leaning against Brandi Ingram’s Locker in the 10th grade locker Lyric Oyler says, “So what are you doing this Saturday?” “Um I don’t know I think im gonna go to the movies with Tess why?” “Oh okay I was gonna ask you if you wanted to come over so we could pick out our outfits for the banquet.” “Well I do need to do that soon I guess I can reschedule.” “Okay, well we can meet at that little café on the corner by the thrift store.” “Yeah that fine.” “Meet ya there.” “Kay Bye.” Driving on Maple Street to pick up Brandi for their run to the café and thrift store Lyric see is a kind transparent figure standing on the sidewalk. She stops and get out of her two-door Firebird and sees him for the first time... then things black out. When Lyric wakes up she hears the normal sounds of her car running. What just happened? When she looks over to the penger side of the car she sees a beautiful boy with blue eyes and a haircut form heaven, at first she thinks she’s seeing things then she does a double-take, but no he’s really there and he looks… transparent in a way he’s there and not there. “Hi I’m Izac Slade.” He say’s sticking out his hand to her. She takes it and shakes it gingerly. “Hello im Lyric Oyler, and your beautiful.” She slapped herself inwardly did I really just say that. “Um thanks I’ve never had anyone tell me I was beautiful before actually I think it’s because most can’t see me.” “Well that’s probably true. Are your eyes naturally that color blue or are they colored contacts?” “No they are natural. Are yours natural?” “Um yeah they are I get them from my mom.” “Cool.” “Well I have to pick up a friend we are going to the thrift store on the corner of Main Street. She lives right there so I gotta pick her up.” “Do you care if I come with you?” “I don’t care.” Then at that, she pulls away from the curb and into Brandi’s driveway. Brandi comes out of the house in her worn Nirvana shirt and she opens the car door. “Whoa, Lyric who the heck is that?” “Um his name is Izac. He’s a ghost I saw him right over there on the sidewalk.” “Hey Izac.” “Is it okay if he goes to the café with us?” “I don’t care.” Driving up main street, they finally reach the tiny café on the corner. “Here we are.” Says Brandi “Can I help you two ladies?” says the cashier at the register “Yeah we needs two soy fat-free lattes.” “Uh no make that one soy fat-free latte, and Two espresso’s.” Okay so that would be $7.52.” “There you go sir and can we get that all to-go please?” “Yes you can.” Brandi and Lyric go to sit at the closest table to the counter. “So what are you gonna be looking for at the thrift store today?” “I don’t know but isn’t Izac so cute his hair falls in all the right places.” “Oh my gosh you’re crushing on a ghost that looks emo?” “Yes, yes I am. He’s just so cute.” Just then the cashier walks over with the coffee’s in a little tray carrier thingy. Plopping into the car Lyric say’s to Izac “Hey are you sure you want to go into the thrift store with us we usually spend hours in there?” “Yeah I love places like that Me and my friend Kaydin Debaie used to into places like that all the time.” “Okay well we have to drink the coffee in her so people don’t freak when they see a floating coffee cup.” “Okay.” Brandi was the first to be done with her soy-latte then Lyric then Izac. “Oh my god that was good I haven’t had one in a long time.” “Me either that was a really good espresso.” “Okay let’s go guys.” Walking into the thrift store Lyric remembered the smell, Violet perfume, cigarettes and newly washed clothes. She started on the first rack, a Metallica shirt, Another Nirvana shirt, Woody woodpecker, Tom and Jerry, Black Veil Brides, and Green Day. She finishes looking through that rack then she moves to the shoes. She gets to the end of the rack and thinks all hope is lost when she finds and awesome pair of high top Chuck Taylor’s.
